Our copper-based alloys are geared towards high performance where a combination of strength plus electrical and thermal conductivity are required. The ToughMet® range of alloys also offers good bearing properties.
Copper-based alloys contain copper as the primary metal, with other elements added to enhance their properties.
Each alloy composition offers unique properties suited for specific applications, ranging from strength, good formability, and electrical and electronic components to architectural and industrial uses.
The unique combination of properties displayed by the copper alloys makes them tried and tested solutions for many applications that may confront South African users and manufacturers as they strive to compete. 2

Good resistance to erosion and cavitation. Used for seawater piping systems on ships and offshore plateforms. Also for condensers, heat exchangers and desalination plants. BRUSH ALLOY 25 Other Grade: UNS C17200 Composition: Cu-1.9Be Download: Brush Alloy 25.pdf | Most commonly specified copper beryllium alloy. When aged displays exceptional strength and resistance to stress relaxation at elevated temperatures. Used in electronics, tooling (plastics), bearing and general industrial applications. BRUSH ALLOY 3 Other Grade: UNS C17510 Composition: Cu-0.4Be-1.8Ni Download: Multi Alloys – Alloy 3 (C17510) Strip | A lower Be grade than Alloy 25; combines moderate yield strength with good electrical and thermal conductivity. ToughMet 3 Corrosion resistant Other Grade: UNS C96900 UNS C72900 Composition: Cu-15Ni-8Sn Downloads: ToughMet® CX Tempers Rod & Tube Toughmet® Brochure | A bearing alloy designed to meet a variety of performance demands. Used in harsh environments, against a wide range of mating materials and in conditions where lubrication may be poor. The alloy has excellent machinability, high strength and good corrosion resistance especially in seawater.
